Answers to the questions tradespeople ask most about TradeProfit. If you can't find what you need, contact us.
TradeProfit is an app that shows tradespeople the real profit on every job. You set up your hourly rate, overheads, vehicle costs and working days once. Then, for each job, you enter the quote price, estimated hours, materials and travel, and see your forecast profit straight away. When the job's finished, you log the actual figures and see what you really made.
Self-employed tradespeople and small trade businesses: electricians, plumbers, gas engineers, builders, joiners, decorators and any other trade that prices jobs and wants to know whether they're making money on them.
Under three minutes. You choose your country, currency, tax settings and how you price fuel, then enter your hourly rate, overheads, vehicle costs and working days.
No. You enter the figures you already know, and TradeProfit does the calculations. If you're not sure what your overheads or hourly rate should be, the TradeProfit blog explains how to work them out.
Forecast profit is what the job should make, based on your quote and your estimated hours and costs. Actual profit is what it really made, once you've logged the real hours and costs. Comparing the two shows you where profit is being lost, for example through labour overruns or extra materials, so you can price the next job more accurately.
Everything the job costs you: materials, your own time at your hourly rate, labourers, travel and vehicle costs, and your share of your business overheads. Read how to work out the true profit on a job for a full worked example.
Yes. Toggle a labourer's day rate onto any job and the margin recalculates instantly, so you never absorb their cost without noticing.
You enter your vehicle costs, such as fuel, finance, insurance and maintenance, and choose how you price fuel and measure fuel economy. TradeProfit converts them into a real cost per mile or kilometre, and applies it to the distance travelled on each job.

Yes. TradeProfit runs in your phone's web browser, so there's nothing to download from an app store. You can also add it to your home screen, where it opens full screen like an app.
