TradeProfit was built by a tradesman, for tradespeople. It has one purpose: to show you the real profit on every job, before you quote and after you finish.
I'm Paul Lewis. I'm a time-served electrician with more than 40 years in the trade.
For over 20 years I owned and ran an NICEIC approved electrical contracting business. I priced and delivered work for clients including BT, British Rail, Wembley plc, Hapag-Lloyd and the London Boroughs of Barnet and Havering. I've also managed around 55 engineering inspectors as a project manager in Saudi Arabia, where I developed an App to manage inspection work. I have worked as head of service for a local authority, writing contracts and specifications and controlling a £7.5 million annual budget, and worked as a consultant for the European Union's TAIEX training programme.
From 2020 to 2026, I lectured and assessed City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation at Further Education college, teaching apprentice groups and nearly 200 full-time learners. I hold an MSc, a BSc (Hons), a Level 3 Certificate in Education, Level 4 assessing and Level 4 internal quality assurance awards.
Today I run Trade Skills Hub Academy, which publishes practical business guides for tradespeople, covering pricing, estimating, tendering and marketing.
Over more than 40 years, I've seen the same thing again and again. Skilled tradespeople, busy every week, who aren't making the money they should. The problem is rarely their workmanship. It's their pricing. They guess their hourly rate, forget their overheads, underestimate the time a job takes, and judge a job by the money left in the bank when it's finished.
Running my own business, I had to know exactly what every job cost and what it made. Teaching, I watched hundreds of learners heading towards working for themselves, and knew many of them would never be shown how to price a job properly.
I built TradeProfit to make that simple. You set up your rates once. Then, for every job, you can see what you'll really make before you quote, and what you actually made when you finish. No spreadsheets, no guessing.
TradeProfit was built in the UK, but it works for tradespeople in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA and South Africa. When you set it up, you choose your country, your currency, whether you charge sales tax and how you price your fuel, and the app sets itself up for where you work.
